CNR is sowing the seeds of sustainability in the Northern Rockies
through our Sustainable Choices Program. We believe that
it will be the everyday choices made by people who live in the
region that will determine the quality of our environment and culture
for years to come. To this end, CNR empowers regional residents
with the knowledge and tools to practice sustainable living, thereby
protecting the region’s incomparable landscape and quality
of life while at the same time doing our part to protect the global
environment.
Our premier event is the Sustainability
Fair, which we organize
each summer in Livingston. CNR organizes the Fair to:
- Promote
and market local agricultural products, alternative energy and
building technologies, and other sustainable goods produced in
Montana;
- To educate the public about the concept of sustainability;
- To
demonstrate practical ways individuals can foster sustainability
through their everyday choices.
The Fair not only educates the
public, but it also bring together producers and consumers of
sustainable goods and services to facilitate both short-term
and long-term commerce.
The Sustainability Fair is the largest event of its kind in the
interior West. In 2006 it attracted over 4,000 people from throughout
Montana, 41 states and 19 countries.
Sustainable Choices Newsletter
To advance sustainable choices throughout the year, CNR publishes
a semi-annual newsletter dedicated to raising the awareness of
people within the region about the benefits of sustainably produced
goods and ways they can use their consumer power to advance sustainability
values every day.
